We have had a very successful and enjoyable collaboration with Macclesfield Cricket Club to develop an area of spare land at the back of the 2nd team cricket pitch. This was generally unused - with occasional employment as overflow parking during club events.
Volunteers at the club have planted an area of fruit tress together with a small wildflower meadow. The trees were supplied by Macc Wild as part of our orchard programme. The cricket club already had some bee hives in this area so we are hoping the honey will taste even better this year! We also planted some Alder Buckthorn as part of the Brimstone project which generated many caterpillars and these will hopefully establish a new stronghold for these butterflies in future.
If you would like to find out more about what we have done here or you are a member of a community group that would like to do something similar, please contact us and we will get back to you.
